The heating and air circulation system is forced air (natural gas). There is also a swamp cooler for additional circulation and humidity. There are nine zones whose temperature is under separate control by the home automation system.

In addition to arming an alarm, the security system turns down the heat when you leave the house.

In addition to lots of large windows, there are 43 decorative windows about a square foot each in size. These are like pictures of nearby rocks and trees from various vantage points throughout the house.

Lighting and various pumps, valves, and switches are operated by the home automation system, and their programming is easy to change.

Motion sensors are not only used for security, they can be used to activate lights when a room is entered at night.

The garage doors and other doors (including entry into "secret" areas) are monitored by the home automation system. This can be used for security, or simply to activate lights. For example, if the garage doors are open at 11am or 7pm, they are automatically closed. Another example: If you attempt to alarm the system before going to bed, and a garage door is open, the doorbell is programmed to ring.

The house is on a well and has a septic system. The well has never been pumped dry, and the water is excellent. However, there is a reverse osmosis system in the kitchen for water that goes into the refrigerator for ice cubes, and for brewing coffee and tea.

The windows are all triple glazed and the house is very energy efficient.

There is a (motor) retractable awning for the roof deck.

The house contains the following rooms: Living, Kitchen, Dining, Plant Room, Potting Room and Spa, Master Bedroom, Sunroom, Guest Room, Study, Media Room, and Billiard Room. There is also a mudroom, a laundry room, a dressing room, three shower/toilet rooms, one sink/toilet room, and two wash basin areas outside their adjacent shower/toilet rooms.

The finished garage has enough space for three cars, three motorcycles, bicycles, and a shop area. It contains wall racks, storage cabinets, and a work bench.
